IMechE Supported Registration Scheme (SRS)
IMechE Supported Registration Scheme (SRS) makes it possible for graduate engineers, sandwich placement students, Engineering Technicians and any of its members, who are not with an organization registered for the Monitored Professional Development Scheme (MPDS), to record their Initial Professional Development.
SRS offers a disciplined and regular
reporting framework to record your activities when you work towards
professional registration.
It will allow you to benchmark your
progress, with your mentor’s support, against the Engineering Council’s UK
Standard for Professional Engineering Competence (UK-SPEC) to determine when
you are prepared to apply for Incorporated or Chartered Engineer registration.
Your records will also give a valuable
resource for compiling your application: you will even be able to import
content straight into the application.
How
to start?
·
Attain IMechE
membership at the appropriate grade. If a graduate, you first need to
be an Associate member. If an undergraduate, register on SRS as an Affiliate
member.
·
Find a register an
appropriate mentor.
·
Fill up the registration
form.
·
Submit your SRA
registration form.
After that, IMechE:
Will process your SRS registration form

After that, you can use Career Developer to
report, plan and review your progress towards professional registration.
How
you can find a mentor:
A mentor on SRA is not necessarily
professionally registered, but they need to have a thorough understanding of
the Engineering Council UK-SPEC competencies. Anyone fulfilling these
requirements can be your mentor.
You can find a mentor in your workplace,
socially or by means of networking at IMechE’s events or regional activities.
Career
Developer:
Career Developer is an online portal
allowing you to manage your professional development in a simple and quick way.
You can use Career Developer at any stage
of your engineering career, whether you are working as a practising engineer to
earn competence through Initial Professional Development (IPD), or an
experienced engineer wishing to keep a record of your Continuing Professional
Development (CPD) and career progression.
It is dependent on at which level you are
in your career. You will be required to use a certain tool or complete an
application before you can access some areas of Career Developer. You should
hire an IMechE
report writing expert to know more about these tools and other things that can
lead you to professional registration.
